The Temporary LOSS of My Best Friend!

The whole of last week, I was super excited, yes that’s the word SUPER! Well maybe the reason I was excited *may not* appeal to a lot many people but it sure does to me! :D I was to get a NEW PC at work!!! Most of you reading might think, "So what so great about getting one? Every1 has one, so whats the deal?" Well I love getting excited! I love the feeling of anticipating something, waiting for it to arrive, looking forward to using/seeing/being with it! After all, what is life without such small simple (Pfft...) joys? These tiny moments of joy are what make’s our life eventful, exciting and lively. I know its materialistic, But it also adds a little shine to the daily mundane Office Life, isn't?

Coming back to my source of excitement for the last week, After three and half long years, I was getting a NEW computer at work! And it was supposed to faster, more effective, technically super competent, perfect tool for designing, and all the cool stuff that you generally hear about. Randomly my Boss declared “Neelu needs a new PC, and she SHOULD get the Best, with all the possible High configurations and stuff!” Yes My Boss has always favored me, as my colleagues usually say “You his PET!” Well I don’t know about that, but what I do know is who doesn't like a person who works tirelessly, finishes his/her job on time and tries his/her best to complete the same with minimum errors?? Right? :P Well It could also be that he would like to buy a PC with a minimum of three years guarantee.

Intel® Core™ i7-975 Processor Edition, Processor speed 3.33Ghz, Intel® QuickPath Interconnect @ 6.4GT/s, and Blah Blah Blah.... I can barely understand as this! For those of you who are wondering, I am a computer illiterate!  I don’t get all these technical jargon and quite frankly I never really bothered getting to know them better. I was happy getting my computers and laptops complete fixed by the experts and merely using them to get my stuff done! The creative/design/aesthetic sides alone! Well I don’t need to as well, because when I do up someone’s interiors, I don’t expect them to know what architraves, cornices, POP moldings, Armories, Brocades, Jaccquards, and the Bauhaus movements are! They don’t need to, that what I am here for! To make their lives simpler, well designed and tastefully done!

So naturally, I expected to get a PC which was COMPLETE with all required modules and features! But alas... I was amused when I discovered my newly arrived computer had NO Monitor! Lol Yes, apparently WE hadn’t ordered for it! When we ask for a NEW PC, complete with ALL specifications and parts, is it wrong to presume that it would come with a MONITOR?? It would be like telling anyone of my client that “Sorry Sir, We haven’t installed the Ceiling in your Office, as you hadn't requested for one!”:O

But at that stage I had laughed it off, thinking it was okie… Not a Biggie, and since I was told that I would get one soon, I thought, Okay, Something else to look forward to! :D And then two days later the Monitor arrived!! And that's when My Heart Broke!!! Why, you may ask?? My Monitor had NO speakers!!!!!!!

For Me, Music is everything!! It is very difficult, in fact highly impossible to live without music. I listen to music everywhere: in the streets, at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops, in the parks and in the concert halls and sing along as well. Everywhere, all the time!! I can’t live without music, it is within ME. I try to listen to it even while sleeping. It’s the ONE thing that helps me function! In fact this was the one thing I had told my boss on the very first day that I joined work, "I will play music all the time, and no I wouldn't use headphones as they are cumbersome especially while working, designing and creating mood boards and also because I wouldn't be able to hear if someone's trying to call me so I will play It out Loud!" And He was cool with it, the only thing he wanted in return was for me to cut a CD of all the songs I thought he would like and give it to him on regularly basis! That’s all! A Fair Deal, a rather good one! Well until now that is!! L

No matter how the people around you are, no matter how they behave, I mean, no matter how sweet and kind they are, there are times when you need the whole world to be gone and you need to cut off and work, to create and to produce! Though, it is not that easy to make this world gone and it is twice difficult to make this whole world go out of your head. Its music, the only thing that can help you get rid of these thoughts and that can help you feel like there is nothing but you and nothing but the work in front of you!

Unfortunately that very thing has been snatched away from me! How would I have known that the Monitor would come with NO speakers?? Especially considering the fact that EVERYONE involved, right from the Decision maker to the Technical person was well versed with my Music Condition/ addiction!

Music is my friend. My true true friend... Yes, I would even say, that it is probably my most reliable and dependable friend. A true friend who cheers me up in an emergency situation; wipes out my sufferings when I am depressed or upset or even sick. Bring me consolation and inspiration whenever I have needed it. A real friend who is never importunate and boring. We choose people to become our friends basing on the qualities and streaks similar to those mentioned above. The same criterion is applied when I select MY favorite music.

Good music, being My best friend has the staunch ability to give me the gift of *GOOD, PLEASANT mood* and can also give me the ENERGY, VIBRANCE and OPTIMISM to surmount all hardships that I may come across in my live. If by now you feel that I am over reacting, and if you still don’t believe in healing power of music, just try to wake up with your favorite song or tune playing and you will see that your life will be greatly improved.

As for me, What I need to do is to do something and get this situation fixed ASAP! Because as of now, I feel horrible that I have temporarily LOST My Best Friend at work! L
